U16 Colts back with a win (Mar 29) 14:30 |
|
The U16's Colts were in league action today in their first
game since the final, although it's only been 2 weeks it
seems longer. They got back to winning ways with an
excellent win away on a heavy pitch at Croeserw. After a
tricky start adapting to the pitch and slope they ran out
winning 7-1 with our goals coming from a Jack "Albi"
Underwood Hat trick a Callum "Gobby" Galsworthy Double and
Jack "The Cat" Lewis and Rhys "The Hair" Rigdon. Well done
lads. The next game is against Baglan "B" In The Semi Final
of the Challenge Cup on Saturday.

U16's cup final report (Mar 16) 00:30 |
|
Unfortunately the U16's Colts lost 5-1 in the KO Cup Final
last Friday our goal coming from Jake Price. The boys gave
100% and battled hard up until the final whistle. Myself and
Declan were very proud of the boys in they way they
conducted their selves against much bigger ,faster and
stronger opposition. Congratulations to Porthcawl Whites who
deserved their win on the night but we look forward to
meeting them hopefully again this season with a different
result.

U16 Colt's match reports (Dec 15) 18:00 |
Another hard game for the
u16's Colts during the week (Thurs night 10th) when we played our older
counter parts the Rangers on the Marston. The Colts started slowest not
surprisingly after the hard fought Semi the Saturday before. The Rangers
taking the lead from a corner with 18 mins gone, a free header in the box
1-0 Rangers. This appeared to kick-start the Colts in to life and started
to get back in the game playing some nice football but not really hurting
the Rangers defence 1-0 Rangers half time.
The second half started the opposite way around where the Colts took
advantage of some sloppy defending and some nifty footwork on the edge of
the 6 yd box from Sean Griffiths to equalise 5mins into the second half.
35 mins to go and the game suddenly came into life with some tough tackles
and nice football the game was end to end with both teams going for the
win. With 4 mins to go the Rangers got the winner, A Karl Howe shot from
30 yards out flew in to the top left corner giving Lloyd Jones (GK) no
chance.
final score 2-1 Rangers.
All credit to the Colts 2 hard games in 4
days and battled to the very end.
Sat 12th Dec
Today we played Margam and ran out 6-0 nice to finish the long week with
a comfortable win with goals coming from Jackson Hall, Dan Carpenter, Sean
Griffiths, Jack Lewis, Chris Harrington and Dominic Williams.

U16 Colt's through to Knockout cup final (Dec
8) 19:30 |
The U16's Colts took on Baglan A in the Knock Out
Cup Semi today and came out victorious winning 4-3
The game started 100 mph with both teams having
good chances to open the scoring but were denied by
some poor finishing and great goalkeeping. The
deadlock was broken from a Baglan corner when a far
post header was tapped in from close range 1 nil
Baglan. From the kick off the Colts attacked which
resulted in a corner, the ensuing corner resulting
in a goal from a Foard Cooksley header 1-1. The
Colts were level and starting to find their feet
against a team that HAD beaten us 4-0 at the
beginning of the season.
so much so that the Colts took the lead. A free kick 30yds out floated over the wall where a grateful
Travis Monks with a sublime first touch buried it
from 8yds out. 2-1 Colts at half time.
The second half started as brisk as the first with
Baglan as you'd expect doing most of the attacking
but then came the goal of the game. With Baglan on
the attack the move broke down in the Colts area
where a Jack Lewis interception started the move. A
move that involved Jack Lewis, Chris Leyshon ,Ben
Thomas, Jake Price, Jackson Hall and Travis Monks
seven passes in which the ball went from one area to
another finished off by Travis Monks His second
Colts' third. With half hour to go Baglan came more
and more into the game and with 20 mins to go Baglan
were awarded a penalty which Alex Gammon finished
with aplomb giving LLoyd Jones no chance 3-2. Baglan
were starting to get on top and the Colts seemed to
be tiring after all their hard work to keep Baglan
at bay. A double substitution was made bringing off
Rhys Rigdon and Jake Price for Jack Underwood and ex
Baglan player Dan Carpenter, with 10 mins to go a
rare Colts mistake on the edge of the area gave the
Baglan striker a tap in from close range making the
game 3-3. With the game now finally balanced and
chances to win at both ends it was the Colts who
took the lead yet again, a slide rule pass by Sam
O'Conner beating the offside and Dan Carpenter with
only the keeper to beat made no mistake from just
inside the area 4-3 with only 4 mins to go. The boys
held on and secured a place in the U16's K.O. CUP.
Declan and myself would like to say how well the
boys equipped themselves today and the attitude and
aptitude of both sets of players made for an
excellent game of football.
WELL DONE LADS

U16 Colt's through to Knockout cup semi-final
(Nov 23) 17:30 |
|
U16's Colts went through to the semi's of the K.O.Cup
beating Corus Steel 5-3 after extra time. A game in
which the weather conditions played it's part, both
teams tried to play football. Corus scored first after
15mins against the run of play from a free kick. The
ball held up in the wind and with a static Colt defence,
Corus reacted the quicker scoring from 8 yds out. Colts
playing with the wind now started to create more chances
but only to be thwarted by the Corus keeper who seemed
to be on his game. The breakthrough came on the 30th min
when a corner was superbly met by Jack Underwood volley
which gave the keeper no chance 1 -1 .With the
game nearing the end of the first half the Colts took
the lead with a bit of luck. A Jackson Hall corner went
straight in with the aid of the wind 2-1 the wind now
getting stronger and the Colts now having to defend a
slender lead against a strong wind in the second half.
HALFTIME 2-1
As we expected Corus came on the attack from the off
with shots raining in on the Colts goal but a fine
display from the defence of Ryan Jones Ben Thomas Chris
Leyshon and keeper Lloyd Jones kept them at bay. The
Colts however did have a few chances to extend their
lead but didn't take their opportunities. Then came the
killer blow for the Colts, A free kick into the
area creating a goalmouth melee resulting in a goal for
Corus 2-2 sending the tie into Extra Time.
1st PERIOD EXTRA TIME
With the Colts playing into the wind Corus took full
advantage of the conditions with shots raining in on
goal ,only some great saves from keeper Lloyd Jones kept
them at bay but he had no chance with Corus' third.
With the last kick of the half a free kick 30 yds out
taken by Scott Hamley absolutely flew into the top left
hand corner. A goal worthy to be a match winner Corus 3
-2
2nd PERIOD EXTRA TIME
The second period started with a flurry of shots
resulting in corners, With the wind playing its part in
Colt's 2nd goal the Corus defence started to look
nervous and rightly so as it turned out another
corner by Jackson Hall created panic and up popped
Travis Monks to smash the ball home from 6 yds out 3-3.
The Colts tails were up now and another Jackson Hall
corner went straight in 4 -3 Colts. With the clock
counting down the ball was played to Sean Griffiths on
the edge of the area he flicked the ball over the
advancing defender and volleyed into the bottom right
hand corner the icing on the cake Colts 5- 3 Corus
A magnificent result for the Colts but the game was
played in great spirit and credit must go to both set's
of players for their contributions in a great game
played in adverse weather conditions
