Llanelli 2-2 Afan Lido
The young Reds dropped their first points of the season when they
were held by opponents on whom they had inflicted a 6-0 thrashing
a few weeks ago.
For once, the fluent passing style for which the home side are
noted was lacking with far too many hopeful long clearances aimed
at lone striker, Rikki Evans, without any notable effect, and it
was in fact the visitors who created the better chances.
Lido were ahead as early as the second minute when some lax
marking at the far post from a Niall Lewis corner allowed Jonathan
Hood a simple header past goalkeeper Craig Richards.
Parity was restored some nine minutes later when Evans had his
initial attempt from a Nathan Logan cross brilliantly kept out by
Ross McCreesh in the Lido goal, but Ross Jones met the rebound to
net from point blank range.
Hood missed a great chance of restoring the lead, but shot wide
with only Richards to beat, before the visitors edged ahead again
on the half hour mark with a superb dipping volley from Sam Wade
which looped over Richards from 25 yards.
A lengthy stoppage occurred when Richards collided with a post and
needed treatment, but fortunately he recovered and seemed none the
worse.
Somewhat against the run of play, the Reds levelled two minutes
from the break with Luke Chappell seizing on to a through ball
before shooting past McCreesh.
The second half was evenly matched with both sides creating
opportunities without either able to add to the total, and at the
close a point apiece was probably a fair result.
