The Reserves maintained their 100% start to this season and again kept a
clean sheet against a Newcastle Emlyn side that in the first half hour
belied their bottom of the league position.
Newcastle Emlyn started the better and as early as the second minute a shot
from outside the box hit the crossbar. We gradually got into the game and
Shaun Morgan took a free kick from outside the area which was deflected for
a corner, the ball was cleared but it was played back in to Adam Beynon but
he shot over the bar.
We finally took the lead on 27 minutes when from a
wide left position Mark Jones found Tomos Wellington who squared the ball to
Shaun Morgan who hit it first time into the net from 10 yards.
We
increased
the pressure and Shaun had another chance but shot straight at the keeper.
Mark Jones put us two up when he turned in the box to shoot high into the
net. Just before the interval we went three up when Mark again shot, the
keeper fumbled it and Shaun Morgan reacted quickest to dink the ball over
the keeper for his second.
Dan Williams crossed in for Adam Beynon to net but the ref decided he was
offside.
We had a free kick 25 yards out which Tomos Wellington took, his
shot hit the wall and rebounded to him, he beat several players to get into
the box but then dragged his shot wide. The fourth came after 53 minutes
when from a right wing corner Adam Beynon scored with an overhead kick. To
make matters worse for the visitors one of their players was sent off over a
remark made after the goal.
On the hour Mark Jones had another goal
disallowed for offside then Shaun Morgan went through for what should have
been his hat trick but he put the ball too close to the keeper and he
diverted it for a corner. The corner was cleared to Shaun just outside the
area and he hit a left footer which hit the crossbar. The visitors keeper
again denied Adam Beynon with another fine save before Mark Jones set Adam
up for the fifth. Tomos Wellington had another chance but took it too far
and the keeper blocked it then Mark Jones set up Scott Bamsey but he shot
wide.
Mark Jones netted the sixth after 79 minutes when he headed in from
a
Dan Williams free kick. Rory McCreesh ensured he kept a clean sheet when
he
tipped over a shot in a rare Emlyn attack. Then with two minutes to go
Mark
Jones was played into the area and was fouled, he got up and scored the
resultant penalty.
In added on time Aaron Keefe found Mark Jones, the
keeper again made a diving save at the expense of a corner then just before
the final whistle the ball was played forward to Mark Jones whose shot was
too powerful for the keeper to give Mark his fourth goal.
