We maintained our 100% start to the season in
difficult conditions against Cwmamman United. Playing against the elements
we made the better start and won an early corner which the visitors cleared. We
were opened up on our left side but Gareth Couch made a fine save to keep the
scores level.
We took the lead on the half hour when
following a free kick Karl Roberts made ground and shot, the keeper was unable
to hold the ball and Adam Beynon followed up and squared the ball for Steve
Hughes to knock it in from a couple of yards. In the second half the Cwmamman
keeper made a number of fine saves and the ball was cleared off the line a
couple of times.
We eventually scored the second and gave
ourselves some breathing space when Carl Payne headed home from a corner on 75
minutes. Straight from the restart Cwmamman hit the crossbar with a free
kick, we cleared the ball to Joel Kabia who made a fine run and squared to Steve
Hughes but a defender got back to clear the danger.
With 5 minutes to go Ali Walkley cleared off
the line, the ball was played forward to Remi Whitelock who made ground and shot
from 25 yards to net number 3.
