Dinas Powys League game
Gaffer’s Notes
Good afternoon and
welcome to the officials, players and supporters of Dinas Powys Football
Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this afternoon’s MacWhirter Welsh
League Division One match.
I’d
also like to welcome our referee Garwyn Davies from Morriston and his
assistants Mike Birt from Cockett in Swansea and Gareth Dowdeswell from
the Mayals in Swansea.
Our
opponents are in the top half of the table and have this week lost their
manager to Port Talbot therefore the players will be looking to perform
admirably in his absence. Playing
Dinas Powys is always a tough match and I expect today to be no
different against determined opponents.
Our
last home match we convincingly beat Newport YMCA 7-0 with Mark Jones
scoring 3, Sam Wade 2, Scott McCoubrey and Luke Borrelli scoring a goal
apiece. Last Saturday we
progressed in the League Cup with another convincing win at Llansawel
winning 6-1. Mark Jones
continued his rich goalscoring form with 5 goals and Ian Jones scored a
penalty.
Scott
McCoubrey is suspended for today's game and Shaun Morgan has an ankle
injury. The players are
very determined at the moment and are putting in some great displays.
We
must all remember that the team is very young and that they need time to
continue their progression at the moment, so I hope that the supporters
give this young team a chance to show what they can do with plenty of
encouragement.
We
must also remember what we are trying to achieve at this club and that
is to play in the Welsh Premier League and to achieve this we must be
right both on and off the field.
Hope
you can enjoy the game with encouragement
Enjoy the game,
