Good evening and welcome to the officials, players and supporters of Bryntirion Athletic Football Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this evening’s first home MacWhirter Welsh League Division One match of the season.

I’d also like to welcome the three officials, Lee James in the middle with Mike Birt and Mike Hopkins assisting. All three are from Swansea.

Our opponents had a great season last year finishing fifth therefore it should prove a very stern test for our new look team.

We've had a huge rebuilding throughout the summer with Ian Turner signing from Goytre United, Scott McCourbrey from Port Talbot, Sam Wade from Cardiff City, David Kingdom from Swansea City, Steve Crabbe from Pontardawe and Darren Griffiths from Merthyr. On top of these players, both Paul & Carl Evans have made the short journey back from Port Talbot and Ian Jones, Steve Parry and Karl Lewis have all returned to the club having not completed last season at the Lido.  Michael Waters, Leon Cosker, Dan Williams, Justin Williams and Shaun Morgan have all re-signed.

Unfortunately we have lost the services of Steve Davies to Cirencester and Dan McGrath to Pontardawe. All the talented youngsters who served the club so well last season have remained at the club and finally Tom Wellington has completed the squad.

Nothing has changed over pre season with the ultimate aim this year is getting back into the Welsh Premier league. It will be a very competitive league which I expect at least 8 teams challenging strongly to win the title.  If we can steer clear of too many injuries and suspensions then hopefully with the new team gelling together we can have a very successful year. Team spirit with the players and management is spot on at the moment so it will be great for EVERYONE to get behind the team and all sing from the same hymn sheet

 Enjoy the game,
