Afan Lido FC match reports

Cardiff Corinthians 2-2 Afan Lido

For the second time this season we've been two up and conceded an equaliser in added on time. Carl Evans was ill so Adam Beynon came in for his debut.

We almost went behind from the first attack, they moved the ball down the left and crossed it in but none of their strikers were able to get a touch and we cleared it. We responded down our left and Adam Carpenter crossed in to Scott McCoubrey but his header went over the crossbar. We took the lead on 12 minutes after we were awarded a free kick 30 yards out in a central position. Adam Carpenter took the free kick which hit the wall and looped high into the corner of the net giving the keeper no chance. Corries preferred route of attack was down their left and Karl Reynolds got back to head a cross clear, it went to a Corries player who shot but hit the side netting. A Corries free kick was headed out by James McEvoy to Mica Chunuonsee who played the ball forward to Shaun Best but he was flagged offside when in a good position. Aaron Keefe lost the ball about thirty yards out but despite Corries getting bodies in the box the failed with several attempts to score. 5 minutes before the break Shaun Best won a through ball made ground and won a corner, Rhys Williams was first to the ball but shot wide.

We made a great start to the second half when Karl Reynolds headed in a corner. Corries responded positively and won a series of free kicks and corners which we dealt with but on 54 minutes they pulled a goal back. Out of nothing a Corries forward shot and Rory McCreesh failed to gather it, it rebounded off his chest to their 9 who slotted the ball home. After soaking up lots of pressure this was a sloppy goal to concede and lifted their spirits. Corries had numerous free kicks but again we dealt with them then on 77 minutes Karl Reynolds came to our rescue when he headed a corner from under the crossbar with Rory nowhere to be seen. From the resultant corner we were awarded a free kick to relieve the pressure. With 6 minutes to go the hard working Shaun Best received the ball wide right in the area and shot first time across the keeper who made a diving save. We then won a corner which Mika Chunuonsee headed wide and from another Lido corner Corries broke quickly but Aaron Keefe was well positioned to clear the danger. In the 90th minute Corries got what they considered a deserved equaliser, a diagonal ball was played into the box and their 9 reacted first to score. We kicked off, won a free kick and the final whistle went.
